During the last Olympic cycle 2018-2022, he was in charge of feeding the sport of Skeleton in Spain. Once his retirement was confirmed, Ander officially took on a new selection process for Skeleton pilots. In the 2022-2023 season, Spain was represented internationally by nine pilots, four women and five men, becoming one of the countries that contribute the most athletes to Skeleton.
In addition, he took the reins of the Parabobsleigh project in the 2022-2023 season, going from one athlete to four and becoming the second country with the most athletes on the world circuit behind Italy and on par with the USA. An integration project that Ander had in mind.
Skeleton Coach for Spain
Mirambell has been coaching Spain for years, and the 2022-2023 season officially begins with this role. His first project was to find athletes, nine pilots who participated in the Spanish Championship in Sigulda. After the competition, new paths were opened for them, and they made their debut in different competitions. For example, Clara Aznar became, at 15 years old, the first woman to participate in the qualifying rounds for the 2023 Youth Olympic Games. Ana Torres-Quevedo and Adrián Rodríguez became the first athletes to qualify for the World Championship in the new Olympic discipline of Mixed Skeleton. This milestone was possible after each of them achieved individual qualification for the World Championship. A historic debut at the Junior World Championships with three athletes (1 woman and 2 men) and the participation of athletes in other competitions on the international circuit. A historic season for Spanish Skeleton.
Kim Meylemans' Coach in Belgium
The Belgian pilot requested the services of Ander thanks to the support of the Belgian Committee and the Flanders government. The goal was to make Kim one of the best in the world. She suffered a horrific accident in October 2022 in Whistler (Canada) when she broke both feet. Instead of giving up, they worked to return by the end of the season. The surprise was that the recovery was better than expected and in January 2023, Kim returned to compete. Despite not being fully recovered, the 2022-2023 season became the best in the history of the Belgian pilot. She won Belgium's first gold in an international competition at the Sigulda European Cup. She achieved an eighth place (diploma) at the World Championship in Saint Moritz, matching her best result since 2017, and at the Innsbruck World Cup, she finished third, just two hundredths of a second behind the silver medal. Equaling her best result in a World Cup.
